One of the most hopeless lies on a resume is overlapping dates. In order to hide a tenure of unemployment or a fuming ex-employer, many people resort to extending their employment duration's. Three months extra here and three months extra there will cover up that six months that you sat out at home. It's the simplest lie, and yet people mess up by adding horribly wrong dates wherein two or three months are included in both your past experiences. And even if you get the dates right, this is one of the worst lies to ever state on your resume, because irrespective of everything else, any employer will check two prime things; whether you worked with the mentioned organization and exactly how long were you there.
In all the countries of the world except United States, a CV is considered as a standard mode of reaching a potential employer. In these countries, employers prefer scanning the CV of the candidate rather than looking at his resume. However, in the United States, you invariably send your resume for any non-academic and non educational purpose. For a PhD, or research job a detailed CV might be preferred over a resume.
During the face to face interview however, members of the Human Resource department try to get to know about some of the qualities of the interviewee. A common question that is at times employed for such a purpose is 'so tell me about yourself'.
Most people are always confused about how they should go about the process of resume writing. In every CV there are some details that are constant. These include the contact details of the person, their job skills, their experience in the field, and their educational qualifications. Without any of these details, a resume will always seem incomplete.
